Austin Lucas-Somebody Loves You
Since I gave you a little taste in the previous post I figured I'd serve up a heaping plate of Austin Lucas for ya.This is his newest release(being his 3rd full length) and it just continues to get better. One of my favorite artists to come out in the past few years.Amazing Folk/Country songs crafted to perfection with enough feeling to make you laugh.cry, and just swell up with every
emotion imaginable.HIGHLY,HIGHLY,RECOMMENDED!!!!

Austin Lucas/Frank Turner-Under The Influence Vol. 8
Part of Suburban Home Records Under The Influence Series where as you would think bands play covers by other bands that influenced them. This volume features one of my favorite artists Austin Lucas w/ a Dolly Parton cover and Frank Tuner w/ a Bruce Springsteen cover. Two great songs by two great musicians.

A Radio With Guts-Beat Heart Sweet Stereo
When a band takes thier name from a Bukowski poem than you know there's gotta be something to em.Poppy yet melencholy songs in the vein of D4,Leatherface,and the like about, yup you guessed it Whiskey,Woman, and tragedy.Smoke em if ya got em.

Hot Water Music-Fuel For The Hate Game
Another one of those postings here where if you know than you know and if you don't than you should. What can be said about Hot Water Music that hasn't already?Arguably the best album from these Gainsville.Fl. powerhouses.Grab a PBR,grow a beard, and rock out.

Mark Lanegan-Whiskey For The Holy Ghost
I've been listening to Mark Lanegan's entire catalog alot recently so I figured it was time to share some of it with you.Former lead singer for The Sreaming Trees(who are also awesome in thier own right) 2nd solo album of story laden songs of alcohol and heartbreak.Lanegan's smokey voice is reminiscent of Tom Waits but is no clone.Really great stuff to grab a bottle of your favorite whiskey and drink your time away in the most beautiful sense.

Tim Barry-Rivanna Junction
Ok,words can not express what I think of Tim Barry but here goes.Tim is one of the biggest influences/inspirations on me ever.Lead singer of the legendary Avail this is Tims' first solo album from 2006.I feel very lucky to consider Tim a friend and it's very rare when one of your favorite artists has shown you the love and mutual respect that you have have shown them. One of the best songwriters of our time, this album is a beautifully crafted manuscript about life through the eyes of a man who has done things his way and has no regrets about it.

LOAD-Almost Complete Discography
Here's one by request for my buddy Paul.Load was a Hardcore/Punk/Noise band from Miami whos heyday was the late 80's to early 90's.I must have seen these guys a hundred times growing up seeing that it seemed like they played with every band that came through town.Really good raw sounding tunes with so much attitude the music alone could take on 3 guys at once and come out on top. This is pretty much everything they released except the "Does Dead Godflesh Smell" 7in. and their full length(if anyone can help email me).Rumor(well not really rumor) has it that they could have done alot more if certain members(Bobby Load I'm looking in your general direction) didn't have such a big drug(crack) problem.

Tim Barry-Thing Of The Past(Official Video)
Tim Barry IS,HAS BEEN,AND ALWAYS WILL BE an inspiration to me.I will never be able to truely express how much Tim's music, words and kindness have affected who I am and who I hope to be.
Warbringer-Waking Into Nightmares
Seeing that I mentioned them in the last post and I'm in the mood to be sharing Trash Metal here's Warbringer from Ventura,Ca. with their newst release "Waking Into Nightgmares". Another forerunner in the new Thrash revival in the U.S.,this album is Old School with a fresh approach. All the aspects you would expect in a Thrash band are here in full force. So grab some skinny jeans, high top Reeboks, and a sleeveless Overkill shirt and bang your head against the stage like you never did before.
Skeletonwitch-Beyond The Permafrost
This is the second album from Black/Thrash/Speed Metal act Skeletonwitch from Athens,Ohio. Another one of the Leaders of the new Thrash revival going on in the states(along with Municipal Waste,Warbringer, and a bunch of others),this albums reeks of pure Heavy Metal. This was the album that introduced Me to this band,so this is the one I'm using to introduce you to em if you dont already know.Great stuff!!!
Coliseum-No Salvation
Awesome Metal/HardCore from Louiville,Ky.Tight as fuck guitar riffs, blistering drum beats, and heavy as hell vocals make for an amazing listen.I've seen these guys a few times and they put on a hell of a show. This is their most recent album from 2007 out on Relapse records so get it from them if you like it,and I'm sure you will.

Lemuria-The First Collection
Lemuria are another one of those duel Female/Male vocals melodic Indie/Punk bands that I love so much. Formed in 2004 in Buffalo,New York they have a few 7in. singles out as well as a full length "Get Better" on Asian Man Records which I also highly reccomend.

Powermad-Absolute Power
Relatively unknown power/thrash metal from Minneapolis. This is their debut from 1989,which is the only full length they released(there was an e.p. but it was nowhere near as great as this).Powermad was featured briefly in David Lynch's "Wild At Heart" as the house band in the bar scene where Nicolas Cage gets all metal on us and jumps on stage and flails around.Anyway this is one that flew below most peoples Metal radar at the time and I'd like to rectify that situation if I can.Check the vid below.
The Measure(sa)-Songs About People... And Fruit n' Shit
Awesome female fronted Pop-Punk outfit from New Brunswick,New Jersey.I'm a sucker for stuff like this especially when it's done this well.Great vocals, well written songs, and good musicianship. Not much else to say so just listen to it.New album out soon on NoIdea records so keep an eye out.

The Ergs!-DorkRockCorkRod
The Ergs! are one of the best(if not the best) 3 chord pop-punk band of the new millenium. This is their debut full length(which was preceded by a slew of 7in. singles and comp. apperances) from 2003 and is in myopinion one of the best albums of the last 10 years(I'd put it in my top 20).This is REAL POP-PUNK,not that flim flam haircut, skinny jeans, keyboard laced, trucker hat wearing bullshit they force down your throat these days. It's also got a ton of nerd pride so you can't go wrong with that either.Sadly The Ergs! broke up close to 2 years ago,but maybe someday they will smile upon us with their amazing nerd-fueled melodic anthems somewhere down the road.
Parliament-Motor Booty Afair
I figured I'd give you the other side of the coin of the last post.Since Parliament and Funkadelic are so often though of as one band(and rightfully so) I figured it would be good to see both of them as seperate entities. This album provides all that funkiness the last post didn't.Released in 1978 this is one of Parliaments best and most popular albums. The Mother Ship has landed and here it is at its finest.
Funkadelic-Maggot Brain
Funkadelics' 3rd album from 1971.You can't go wrong with this gem of an album(or any Funkadelic for that matter).I'm not sure if most people realize how experimental Funkadelic actually are.I know the usual consensus is that they're just a funky/jazzy/soulful rag-tag band of misfits but nothing could be farther from the truth.Just cause you think you know what this band is about doesn't mean you do.Just listen to it!!

Angel Witch-Angel Witch
One of the most Influencial NWOBHM(New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) bands to exist.Metallica,Megadeth, and many others have often cited Angel Witch as a major influence on their music and its easy to see why. This debut album from 1980 is a classic piece of metal that should be in any self respecting headbangers collection.Albums like this remind me why I'm such a huge fan of the NWOBHM scene.
Pentagram-First Daze Here(The Vintage Collection)
Imagine if Black Sabbath Was from the states and never got anywhere. If that was the case than you would have Pentagram. One of the early pioneers of Doom Metal this collection of material recorded in the early to mid 70's showcase a great rock and roll band that have finally begun to get their due in the new millenium. So lite one up and sit back and enjoy some of the best stoner rock you're ever likely to here.

The Innocents-One Way Love
Jellyfish-Spilt Milk
Another one of my favorite albums and bands of all time. This is their 2nd album from 1993(the debut album "Bellybutton" is just as brilliant)and was vastly overlooked at the time. They had their 15 minutes of fame with a few singles and videos getiing rotation on MTV and radio but never quite got the big break they so rightfully deserved.Coming off as a cross between The Beatles and Queen this is a masterpiece of amazing musicianship and haunting melodies.Recognized in hindsight as band ahead of their time they will go down as one of the best and most underrated bands of the mostly boring 90's muscic scene.

Lovage-Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By
Brilliant album that was overlooked by quite a few. With beats by Dan The Automator and vocals split between Mike Patton and Jenifer Charles this is a smooth listen with amazing flow. And to anwser the burning question,Yes you can actually make love to your old lady by this(I know from experience,if ya know what I mean..wink,wink,nudge,nudge).
http://www.mediafire.com/?hyznwhhojdk
Coheed And Cambria-The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Ok So this is one of those bands that either you love or hate,i've found that there's no middle ground.Personally this is one of my favorite bands(I've even gone so far as to have their "Keywork" logo tattooed on my leg),and have been pushing them on people for a number of years now and figured why should this blog be any different.Forget what you may have heard and make your own decision. This is their first album in a contineous saga that is about to wrap up with the pre-quel album "Year of the Black Rainbow" coming out in the next few weeks.Forget the story going on and just focus on the great music contained within.
Anvil-Metal On Metal
With all the hype surrounding Anvil in the past year I thought some of you might be curious to know what they are all about.Great metal anthems that will keep your head bangin in that 80's way you still long for.The much talked about documentary Anvil:The story of Anvil is a wonderful testament to a band that unlike most people never gave up on THE METAL or their dreams.Check it out for if nothing else to say that you did.

Elvis Costello-Imperial Bedroom
I've been on a huge Elvis Costello thing the past week or so and figured I'd share some with you.
This album from 1982 is the one of his best and here's a few interesting tid-bits about it from the wikipedia site for this album. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Jazz & Pop critics poll. In 1998 readers of Q magazine named it the 96th greatest album ever. In 1989, it was ranked #38 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 100 Greatest Albums of the 80's. In 2003, the album was ranked number 166 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Municipal Waste-The Art of Partying
You should already know and own this but if you don't you're in for a treat.Hailing from Richmond,Virginia Municipal Waste are one of the forerunners of the new Thrash Revival currently going on the U.S..This is their 3rd full length and in my opinion their best album to date. They remind me of a cross between D.R.I. and Nuclear Assault but definatly have all the best elements from late 80's thrash.I mean how can you not love a band whose whole motiff is drinkin beer, smokin weed and partying.

The Paper Chase-God Bless Your Black Heart
Here's one my friend Tyler(whose musical opinion is one I actually appreciate and respect) turned me on to a few years back.I didn't know how to describe this bands eclectic style so in some one else's words they sound like "a jagged structure of avant-garde jazz, noise, indie, and punk",which isn't exactly 100% accurate but not completely off base either. They've got a few albums out but this is the one I started with and figured it was a good introductory course for anyone else interested.Check out the vid below for a better understanding.

Faith No More-Live Download Festival 6/12/09
Have I mentioned how completely stoked I am at the fact that FNM is back together.Faith No more is one of my top 3 favorite bands ever and this live set just reassures me why. They're doing some shows here in the U.S. this year and you can damn sure bet I'll be at as many as I can get to.The sound on this is AMAZING.Check out the video below.I don't need to tell you how great this band is but I'm doing it anyway.GET THIS!!!!
Copper-Drag Queen
Ok,this is one of my favorite albums of all time.Emo before it was all about skinny pale kids in eyeliner. The best way to describe it is to say they sound like a faster version of The Cranberries, but that doesn't do it justice. This album is seriously great and you're totally missing out if you don't give this one a listen.I cant' stress enough how great this record is.
http://www.mediafire.com/?tntetduzejv
Witches With Dicks-Manual
Witches With Dicks are an awesome punk band from Boston.Melodic snotty 3 chord anthems loosely influenced by bands such as Screeching Weasel,Jawbreaker,Dillenger 4,and the like.Sadly these guys are no longer together but memebers are still kickin it in other bands. This album was put out by the brilliant label KissofDeath, who have a ton of other great bands,so buy it from them if you like it.
Roky Erikson-Casting The Runes
Live album by one of my favorite artists. This is the re-release with 19 tracks instead of 10.This album is a great introduction if you're not familiar with Rokys' music and an amazing addition if you are. These are definatly the best live recordings by Roky that I've ever heard and I reccomend this highly.
MC Chris-MC Chris Is Dead
The King of Nerdcores' 5th full lenghth release. If you didn't know I LOVE MC CHRIS.I have everything he's put out and then some.Known primarily for being the voices of Hesh on Sealab 2021 and MC Pee-Pants on Aqua Teen Hunger Force,MC Chris is a pretty damn good rapper.Great songs with a comedic feel and a style you cant help but appreciate. If you got nerd pride like I do you should already be a fan and if you're not get ready for a big surprise. If he wasn't as good as he is this would just be a novelty record but damn if this isn't the shit.I mean hey,I named this blog after a line in one of his songs. You be the judge.
http://www.mediafire.com/?zyzynbw4jg1
Darkthrone-A Blaze In The Northern Sky
Teenage Bottlerocket-Bigger Than Kiss Video
One of my favorite bands of the past few years and this song and video are great.
Death-...For The World To See
Not the metal band fronted by Chuck Schuldner, but a completely overlooked African-American punk band consisting of 3 brothers from Detroit.Formed in 1971 as an R&B band but switched after seeing an Alice Cooper show.Influenced by bands such as The MC5 and The Stooges the material for this album was recorded in 1974 but not officialy released until 2009.They're back together and doing some touring this year so hopefully more people will be able to learn about this great band that was wrongfully ignored in their original existence.

Le Griffe-Fast Bikes E.P.
Here's a great NWOBHM single for ya all to sink your chompers into.3 songs from this U.K. band from 1983.Awesome rockin stuff to make ya wanna go to the local pub and pound em down.

Heartsounds-Until We Surrender
This album has been in constant rotation since I first heard it about 6 months ago.Great melodic punk rock with duel male/female vocals. This is their first full length and I can't wait for more from ths awesome duo.

Amboog-A-Lard-A New Hope & Demos 90-91
Here's one for eveyone I grew up with.Amboog-A-Lard where THE local band in the town I grew up in during my youth. They're most famous for their rythem guitarist/bass player Jeordie White going on to join Marily Manson as the entity known as Twiggy Rameriz.Inluded in this post are their demos recorded at the legendary Morrisound studios from 90-91 as well as their self released only full length A New Hope.Great thrash/speed metal in the vein of all the big bands of that genre of the time. There's a reason we often refered to them as Amboog-A-Mega-Testa-Talla-Deth.This band will always have a special place in my heart.

Bad4Good-Refugee
This is great rockin little number here with vocals by Danny Cooksey who you may remember from things such as Salute Your Shorts,Terminator 2,or Different Strokes, as well as guitar work by Thomas McRocklin who was the kid in the Steve Vai videos as a little Steve Vai.The oldest member of the group was 16 at the time of recording but these kids were already masters of their insturments. Thanks to -21grams blog for the link.
